Office for Civil Society to accept applications from ‘vulnerable’ organisations at the end of the month

The government’s new £100m Transition Fund will open for applications at the end of the month and be administered by the Big Lottery Fund, the Office for Civil Society said today.

The fund, which was announced in last month’s spending review, will help voluntary organisations that are most vulnerable to short-term reductions in public spending.

Organisations with incomes of between £50,000 and £10m can apply, although how much they can bid for has not yet been announced.

“We have worked quickly to open a £100m short-term fund to help charities, voluntary groups and social enterprises make the transition to becoming providers of public services,” said a statement from Nick Hurd, the Minister for Civil Society.

The BLF is one of six organisations on an OCS shortlist to administer its funds over the next four years.

Peter Wanless, chief executive of the BLF, said it would draw on the expertise of voluntary sector organisations, such as the chief executives body Acevo and the soon-to-be-abolished infrastructure quangoCapacitybuilders, in distributing funds.

The fund will remain open for 13 months. Detailed eligibility criteria are yet to be announced.

  1. Sir, We are QUALITY HOME HEALTH CARE, A NON-PROFIT 501-C-3. We work with the frail elderly disable seniors and disable children in our local community. We have been looking for funding to help those needy families with elder parents that just fall short of home health care assistance, (they have NO MONEY for this service)they need health care providers to come into their home to help in their day to day home care assistance of taking care of themselves, just as we do. We are talking ages 78 years and up.

We have applied for Grants for many years, but always just fell short for one reason or another. We are experienced at what we do for this group of elderly seniors. We just found your funding opportunity and just hopping since this funding have not been placed we could plea our funding case to your agenecy for help. Feel free to respond to our email about this much need community request. Your funding would help in developing jobs to secure salaries to send out health care providers into the homes of the needy senior for several hours a day for their immediate health care assistance and help them to remain in their homes as they wish during their last days on this earth.

Thank you for any assistance you can give to this most needed cause.

    Sincerely,
    Marian Miller

    • Dear Marian,

Unfortunately we are not an organisation that distributes funds – rather, we alert our clients to opportunities that might enable them to apply for funds in order to grow or sustain their organisation. We also complete funding applications and offer a support service to work alongside clients who are completing their own forms. Could you tell me where in the world/country you are based and, if it is in the UK we may be able to offer you some guidance. Unfortunately we do not work internationally.

      Kind regards,

      Sacha Brakenbury.
